The Little Red House

We have been talking about apples at school. Last week we heard a story about the Little Red House. We made our own books so we could go home and share the story with our families. Watch and see what the Little Red House is.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Stark

Today was Mr. Stark's birthday. The class made a banner with a birthday wish and invited him to our classroom for a chorus of Happy Birthday. Hope you had a happy birthday, Mr. Stark!

To go along with our reading story this week, Sam and the bag the boys and girls worked in groups today to build sentences from words in a bag. They did a great job!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom the first week of school and did a couple of projects to go along with it. On the first we tore construction paper to make the trunk of a tree and added the letters to our names climbing the finished tree. On the other we painted trees and added ourselves climbing the tree to find something that starts like each of our names. What would you climb the tree to find that begins like your name?

I Am Special

Last week we read the poem:

I am special

I am me

No one in the world

Is just like me

Then we made people to look like ourselves and placed them around an earth on our bulletin board.

My Hat

Last week we read The Hat in reading. On Friday we read My Hat and then everyone made their own creation of the book.

Beginning Week Two

We started our second week of school today. The boys and girls predicted what our reading story will be about by erasing the SMART Board a little at a time to reveal a hidden picture. We worked on writing numbers in math and discussed the long o sound in phonics. This afternoon we worked on the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees we painted with Mrs. Beard last week. Everyone made themselves climbing the tree to see something that begins like their name. Most of us will finish them tomorrow.
