President Activities

During Presidents' Day week we learned lots about some of our presidents. On Friday we did several centers pertaining to Presidents' Day. We could make a booklet about the president's job, do a Venn Diagram on the computer on Lincoln and Washington, make an Abraham Lincoln project to go with a writing activity we did, or make a patriotic project with Abraham and Lincoln facts.

Enzymes and Digestion

Mrs. Wiseman visited our class last week to teach us about how enzymes in our body help digest our food. We learned lots about digestion from Mrs. Wiseman.

Guest Reader

Brenna's Aunt Sarah recently visited our class as a guest reader. She is now in South Korea for a year serving with the Air Force. She used a globe to show us where she would be living and read us a great story. Our class hopes to be pen pals with her while she is in South Korea. Mrs. Corn was especially glad to have Sarah visit also as she was one of her students when she was in first grade. Thanks for being our guest reader, Sarah!

Valentine Party

This afternoon we had a great time exchanging valentines at our party. We enjoyed way too many yummy snacks and played a fun game. Thanks to our wonderful families who sent treats for our party. We really appreciated all of them!!! Take a peak at our fun.

Valentine Centers

We had lots of fun this morning doing centers based around Valentine's Day. We used Pixie 2 on the computers to write about three things we love and one thing we don't love. Then we added a sticker from Pixie for each thing we wrote about. We drew valentine pictures with crayons and did painted red watercolor over them to make a crayon resist. Graphing valentine heart candy was really fun especially when we got to eat the candy when we finished. Using red stamp pads and our thumbs we made "thumbody" loves you hearts. Making valentine cards for special people was fun. In math we have been talking about line segments and practicing using rulers so we made hearts with line segments on them. Then we colored each area surrounded by the line segments a different color. The boys and girls worked very well and enjoyed all the activities.
