This week we worked on short a words along with the story Sam and the Bag. Everyone wrote their own riddle to give clues for what they put in their bag.

Johnny Appleseed

In September we talked about Johnny Appleseed. We read some books about his life and watched a short video. Then we brainstormed some facts we had learned. In writing everyone wrote about some of the things they had learned about Johnny. We then made Johnny Appleseeds and put the writing on our art project. They look really nice in our hallway at school. Next time you are at school take a look and read our Johnny Appleseed facts.

Buster the Bus



Buster the Bus visited school today to teach us about bus safety. He was helped by some of our bus drivers. Thanks to Buster and the bus drivers for helping us learn to be safe!

Building Sentences

When we read the story Sam and the Bag, the class worked in groups to take words from a bag and build a sentence with them They were really fast building their sentences and did a great job reading them!

The Little Red House

We have been talking about apples at school. Last week we heard a story about the Little Red House. We made our own books so we could go home and share the story with our families. Watch and see what the Little Red House is.

Sandpaper Kisses

Last week we read the poem Sandpaper Kisses in our reading book. The boys and girls each made their own cat bag puppet and we recorded them reciting the poem with their puppets.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Stark

Today was Mr. Stark's birthday. The class made a banner with a birthday wish and invited him to our classroom for a chorus of Happy Birthday. Hope you had a happy birthday, Mr. Stark!


To go along with our reading story this week, Sam and the bag the boys and girls worked in groups today to build sentences from words in a bag. They did a great job!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Trees

We read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom in September. Then we used sponges to paint a coconut tree. Everyone chose something that began with the same sound as their name and then used construction paper to make themselves and the thing that begins like their name to place on their own coconut tree. Thanks to Kyra's mom for helping us record our voices on the video.
